Hardware maintenance at SAPS headquarters leads to a backlog in the issuing of Police Clearance Certificates: 2022
Many South Africans that urgently needed their Police Clearance Certificates were furious with the delays caused by the suspension of water and electricity services at the SAPS headquarters in February 2022. A backlog in the issuing of police clearance certificates is nothing new, yet it causes massive frustration every time it occurs.
Estimated turnaround times were delayed by roughly a week following the event earlier this year. But the CRC has hit a road bump again, this time due to hardware maintenance at SAPS headquarters on their scanning machines.
According to the CR and CSM Clearance Help Desk, it is estimated that the maintenance and repairs on the AFIS machine (scanner used for the issuing of Police Clearance Certificates) will be completed by October 1st, 2022.
How long will my police clearance application be delayed for?
The expected delays are at least one week, if not longer, should the issue take longer to resolve.
It must be understood that the problem is not due to slow delivery on Apostil.co.za’s account. We have been advised that technicians are working on the matter and that if the maintenance process concludes before the 1st of October, we will be notified. However, this puts a massive strain on the already backlogged police clearance certificate issuing process.
Planning for police clearance certificate delays in the future
Hopefully, the matter will be dealt with appropriately and as swiftly as possible. However, it is clear to see that a SAPS PCC departmental backlog of this magnitude has detrimental effects on many South African citizens.
